Fire Over Europe
Book I of The Dragon Wars Saga
War is consuming Europe. Cities burn. Dragons fall from the sky.
Synopsis
Charlie Harrison never expected to be part of history. With no military background and no grand ambitions, he answers the Royal Australian Air Force’s call for recruits believing he’ll train as a pilot. Instead, he discovers a secret that will change the course of the war: dragons are real, and they are being prepared for combat.
At the RAAF training grounds, Charlie is introduced to a world far beyond human warfare. Each dragon species possesses unique abilities — Water Serpents that command the oceans, Celestial Serpents that wield storms, Jungle Drakes that vanish into the foliage, and more. Alongside a diverse group of recruits, Charlie faces brutal training, impossible expectations, and the sacred ritual of dragon bonding.
Under the stern guidance of Wing Commander O’Connor and Sergeant Mackenzie, the recruits push themselves to the edge. Their final test — an obstacle course no one can complete alone — forces them to confront the true meaning of teamwork. Their victory earns them entry into the dragon’s den, where Charlie forms an unbreakable bond with Thalassa, a majestic Water Serpent.
But not all survive the ritual.
With war escalating in Europe, Charlie and his newly formed squadron are deployed overseas. After escorting a flotilla to Egypt and training with Britain’s Highland Drake riders, they are sent to the frontlines at Dunkirk. There, amid smoke, fire, and chaos, they face their first true battle — a desperate struggle to protect thousands of retreating soldiers from relentless Luftwaffe attacks and enemy wyverns.
The cost is devastating. Wellington, the squad’s disciplined anchor, falls in battle, leaving the unit shaken and leaderless. Forced into a role he never sought, Charlie must rise to the challenge. With Sarah — brilliant, fearless, and bound to her Lava Drake — and the rest of the squad at his side, he leads them back into the skies.
Through fire, loss, and impossible odds, they hold the line.
As dawn breaks over Dunkirk, the survivors emerge scarred but unbroken. The war is far from over — greater battles await — but Charlie and his squadron have proven themselves. Their courage, their bonds, and their dragons will shape the future of the conflict… and carve their names into legend
