Fire Over the Pacific

Book III of The Dragon Wars Saga

When the Empire falters, Australia rises.

Synopsis

Fresh from the defence of Britain, Charlie Harrison and the Australian Dragon Corps are recalled by Prime Minister John Curtin. Their new mission is clear: return home and prepare for the defence of Australia. But the journey back forces them into one of the darkest chapters of the war.

Their route takes them through Singapore, a city already buckling under the weight of the Japanese advance. What begins as a brief stop becomes a desperate stand as Charlie, Thalassa, and the remaining Allied dragons join exhausted British, Indian, and local forces in a last attempt to hold the city. But the promised reinforcements never arrive. The Japanese forces are overwhelming. The Ryūjin — Japan’s elite dragon corps — unleash tactics the Allies have never seen.

Singapore falls.

The retreat that follows is chaotic and heartbreaking. Charlie carries the weight of every life he couldn’t save as the Dragon Corps escapes across the sea, battered and diminished. When they finally reach northern Australia, the truth becomes impossible to ignore: the war has come to their doorstep.

As Japan pushes toward Port Moresby, the Allies scramble to mount a defence. American carriers arrive. Canadian Frost Drakes join the fight. The Australian Dragon Corps regroups, exhausted but determined. For the first time, the Allies have the strength to challenge Japan at sea.

The Battle of the Coral Sea erupts in a storm of fire, steel, and wings. Dragons clash with Ryūjin wyverns above burning carriers. Sea Serpents dive beneath the waves to strike at enemy hulls. Frost Drakes duel Zero fighters in the clouds. It is the first battle in history where opposing fleets never see each other — only their dragons and aircraft do.

When the smoke clears, the Japanese advance is stopped.

It is not a decisive victory. It is not the end of the war. But it is the first time the Allies have halted Japan’s momentum — and it changes everything.

Ahead lies Kokoda. A new kind of war. A new kind of hell. But for now, the tide has begun to turn.
