Fire Over the Philippines

Book VI of The Dragon Wars Saga

To free a nation, they must break an empire.

Synopsis

The Solomons campaign has pushed Japan back, but the war is far from over. The next objective is bold, dangerous, and symbolic: liberate the Philippines. For the Allies, it is a promise kept. For Japan, it is a line they cannot afford to lose.

Charlie Harrison and Thalassa join a vast Allied force — American carrier groups, Australian and Canadian dragon units, and newly trained Filipino resistance riders — all converging on Leyte Gulf. The scale of the operation dwarfs anything Charlie has seen before.

The Ryūjin, desperate and cornered, unleash their most terrifying creations yet: Typhoon Drakes, capable of generating storm‑winds with their wings, and Sun‑Scale Wyverns, bred for blinding aerial assaults. The skies over the Philippines become a storm of fire, lightning, and shattered wings.

The battle for Leyte Gulf erupts into chaos. Dragons dive between burning ships. Water Serpents clash beneath the waves. American Thunder Drakes duel Typhoon Drakes in the clouds. The largest naval battle in history becomes a three‑dimensional war fought across sea, sky, and storm.

As the Allies push inland, Charlie witnesses the resilience of the Filipino people — guerrilla fighters who held out for years, families who survived occupation, and new dragon riders who rise from the ashes of their homeland. Their courage becomes the heart of the campaign.

But victory comes at a cost. The Ryūjin fight with the desperation of a dying empire. Cities burn. Forests ignite. The skies turn black with smoke. Charlie is forced to confront the reality that even liberation demands sacrifice.

When the Philippines is finally freed, the world changes. Japan’s defensive ring collapses. Their dragon corps is shattered. And for the first time, the path to Tokyo lies open.

The end is coming — but the final battle will be the hardest of all.
