Vulcan belongs to the Lava Drake species, dragons whose scales are formed from hardened lava and heat‑resistant minerals. These creatures are living furnaces, capable of melting through fortifications with breath temperatures exceeding 2000°C. Their bodies radiate heat, shimmer with internal fire, and require volcanic hangars to remain stable.
But Vulcan is more than just a siege engine. He’s a soldier with standards.

Physical Description
Scales: Obsidian black with glowing orange edges when agitated
Build: Compact, muscular, built for heat retention and aerial power
Spine: Crystalline ridges that pulse with internal heat
Eyes: Molten copper, perpetually unimpressed
Signature: Heat shimmer and smoke wisps when annoyed (which is often)
When Vulcan enters a hangar, the temperature rises. When he enters a battlefield, it melts.
Personality
Vulcan is perpetually grumpy. Not in the theatrical, fire‑breathing way — but in the clipped, muttering, “humans are inefficient” kind of way. He speaks in short, gravelly sentences, punctuated by huffs of smoke and dry observations.
He values discipline, precision, and tactical clarity. He critiques everything — from flight formations to Sarah’s wrench technique — but beneath the grumbling lies a dragon who would incinerate the world before letting harm come to his rider.
Dialogue Style
“Target acquired. Recommend immediate incineration.”
[snorts smoke]
“Your wrench is misaligned. Again.”
“Efficiency rating: 62%. Unacceptable.”
“Permission to melt the briefing room.”
Vulcan doesn’t waste words. But when he speaks, people listen — or duck.
Background
Hatched in the volcanic highlands of Papua New Guinea, Vulcan was recruited early for his exceptional heat tolerance and combat instincts. His training was marked by tactical brilliance and frequent disciplinary notes for “excessive sarcasm.”
His partnership with Sarah Mitchell began rocky — she’s methodical, he’s impatient — but their shared love of mechanical precision forged a bond stronger than steel. Vulcan respects her mind, her grit, and her refusal to be intimidated by his molten moods.
Combat Role
Vulcan excels in:
Siege operations
Close air support
Fortification destruction
Mid‑altitude firepower dominance
His heat signature makes stealth impossible, but his firepower makes subtlety irrelevant.
The Forge‑Heart
Among the Dragon Corps, Vulcan is known as The Forge‑Heart — not just for his volcanic origin, but for the loyalty that burns beneath his armored exterior. He’s a living weapon, yes. But he’s also a protector, a partner, and a creature of deep, smoldering pride.
To fly with Vulcan is to ride the edge of a volcano — dangerous, magnificent, and unforgettable.
